Working individually with you, we ensure that we understand your current situation and goals.
We consider our client’s “big picture”, ensuring that we understand your specific circumstances, financial needs and goals. Our services combine financial planning and investment management. We are at your side, providing clear, objective advice, and partnering with your other key advisors such as CPAs and estate attorneys.
Long-Term
Investing
Leveraging decades of financial markets experience, we employ a disciplined, contrarian, research-driven investment process.
Leveraging decades of financial markets experience, we employ a disciplined, contrarian, research-driven investment process.
Leveraging extensive experience in institutional asset management and the financial markets, we employ a conservative, contrarian investment approach based on fundamental analysis, patience and discipline. We seek out high quality companies trading at attractive valuations. To quote Warren Buffett, “Whether we’re talking about socks or stocks, I like buying quality merchandise when it is marked down”. Individual securities are supplemented with mutual funds and ETFs for additional portfolio diversification, ensuring that your investment strategy is in line with your financial goals and risk tolerance.
Whom We Help
Women
Women have many challenges when building wealth – a gender pay gap, potential lack of earned income while caring for children and parents, an aversion or lack of understanding of the markets, and a statistically longer life span. Women executives are incredibly busy working to build careers while juggling personal lives.
Most women understand how important investing is, but remain on the sidelines. According to a 2018 report by S&P Global, only 26% of women invest in the stock market. In addition, there is little representation of women in the investment profession. Only 18% of CFA Charterholders are women, and only 31% of U.S. financial advisors are women.
In some cases women come into wealth at stressful times, including the death of a spouse or a divorce. These are difficult and challenging times to learn about financial and investment management. We are dedicated to helping women understand and build wealth over the long-term, and to assisting them through transitions in an organized, methodical and understandable way.
Busy
Professionals
During your prime income-earning years, we’ll help keep you laser-focused on your career. We’ll help you ensure that you are on the right track in terms of your income, spending, saving and investing so that your hard-earned funds are optimized. We’ll provide cash flow projections for you and assess your long-term outlook and asset allocation under a range of scenarios, keeping in mind potential expenditures, such as educational expenses. In coordination with your CPAs and estate attorneys, we will help with tax planning and your legacy. We’ll also help your children learn about the markets and investing from an early age.
Retirees or
“Pre-” Retirees
Retirement is a major transition and requires careful consideration and planning well in advance. We’ll help you consider your changing sources of income, expenses and assets in the planning period. During this period your asset allocation may evolve, and income generation often becomes more of a focus. As well, estate planning and charitable giving may become increasingly important, and together with your other trusted advisors we will assist you in establishing a plan in line with your long-term goals.
Legacy-Focused Individuals and Families
Beyond simply writing a check to a charitable organization, there is a wide array of charitable giving options which have varying benefits, restrictions and tax impacts, including gifts of appreciated stock, establishing donor-advised funds, charitable trusts and/or private foundations. With your advisors, we’ll help you understand which options serve your goals and financial circumstances best, and will ensure your investment portfolios are managed and deployed in line with your charitable giving goals.
Non-Profits and Foundations
Foundations and non-profits under $100mm can get lost in the shuffle, overlooked by consultants and asset management companies. With extensive experience on non-profit boards, we are able to add a Trustee’s perspective to our investment management expertise to further the mission of your organization. We will assist with establishing or amending your organization’s Investment Policy Statement. We will ensure that investment portfolios are in line with the IPS framework, coordinate with you on liquidity needs, provide regular, periodic reporting to the Finance Committee and overall governing Board, and will serve as a financial sounding board for additional strategic topics.
How We Work
Initial
Meeting
During our first meeting, we’ll discuss your financial situation in detail. We’ll talk about your family, current circumstances, liquidity needs, key concerns, and long-term goals.
Information
Gathering
Working with you, we’ll ensure that we have your financial data and statements, and any other relevant information we need to do our cash flow modeling.
Cash Flow
Analysis
In this step, we “crunch the numbers”, and model out what your projected financial situation could be in the long-term given a varying set of assumptions. We’ll talk to you about several potential scenarios to run. This analysis is particularly helpful when planning for major events or transitions, such as saving for education, retirements, divorce, and estate planning.
Detailed
Discussion
Once we’ve projected a range of outcomes, we’ll meet again to talk about the assumptions and inputs to the model and its results. It’s important to remember that while the models won’t predict the future, they’ll allow us to create a best guess as to what potential outcomes could be. We then will have a framework for how to consider income needs, savings plans, spending, and long-term investment management. Should you require additional assistance from any other type of advisor, such as an estate planning attorney, CPA, or insurance specialist, we are able to facilitate introductions and coordinate as helpful.
Periodic
Check-Ins
We do our best work when we know you and your needs, and are up to date on any changes. To that
end we would like to meet on a regular basis, at least once a year and more often as circumstances
dictate. In addition, over the course of a year, we will be providing you with blogs and commentary
about the market and financial planning topics so that you’re able to stay up to date.
We are available for you, whether you wish to discuss your cash flow analysis, investments, market
fluctuations, cash needs, personal changes in your life, updates to your accounts, or just to say hello!
We provide a range of wealth management services to assist clients with identifying, planning for and achieving their long-term financial and personal goals. Clients may utilize all or a portion of the offered financial and investment services, as best suits their needs. A typical client engagement works as follows (click on the steps above to review).

Q:
Why do I need an investment adviser?

- I’m getting divorced. What should I be thinking about?
- My spouse recently passed away and he/she managed our financial life. What is going to happen and will I be ok?
